When it comes to your fertility treatment, costs can play a significant part in your decision. With in vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatment, there is no fixed price. Various factors need to be considered, such as the type of treatment you choose and additional services, including fertility tests, medication, and storage.
We understand adding up the costs can be overwhelming, so we have broken down the information to help you.
At TFP Fertility, a typical IVF cycle is split into three stages, pre-treatment, IVF treatment and post-treatment. Pre-treatment includes scans and blood tests. Whereas, the treatment itself includes several key processes; sperm preparation, egg collection, embryo creation and embryo transfer. The post-treatment stage consists of an early pregnancy scan and review consultation to assess the outcome of your treatment. You will also be offered counselling, allowing you to discuss any concerns you may have.
The overall costs of these treatments will range from £1,835 to £6,860 per cycle.
Several factors play a significant role when it comes to IVF costs. Since every individual’s fertility journey is unique, we personalise and tailor our treatment packages to meet specific needs. For example, one patient may need more medication than another, which will impact the overall cost.
The type of treatment you need can significantly affect the cost. For instance, intrauterine insemination (IUI) treatment, where sperm is directly injected into the womb to assist with fertilisation, is generally less expensive than IVF. In contrast, IVF with intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) treatment, which involves directly injecting a single healthy sperm into the egg to enhance the chances of fertilisation, tends to be more costly.
Furthermore, if you are looking into surrogacy, treatment packages are charged separately at a different cost.
Ultimately, your fertility assessment will help determine which treatment is best suited for your needs and increase your chance to conceive.
A fertility assessment is carried out during the pre-treatment stage and includes several scans and blood tests. This assessment includes an anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) blood test, which measures the number of eggs present in the ovaries. Additionally, a pre-treatment scan, semen analysis and a consultation with a fertility doctor are also included at this stage. This will help determine which type of fertility treatment is better suited for you.
Lab services are an integral part of the IVF treatment process. These services include blastocyst culture, which is the final stage of embryo development before implantation. Additionally, the process involves embryoscope monitoring, the use of embryo glue, and the HFEA fee, along with necessary blood tests.
The medication that is needed throughout your treatment is an additional cost that varies with each individual. This can range from £150 to £3,250, which will be added to the total cost of your plan. The specific medication we provide will depend on your treatment plan and will be available only until you get pregnant. Rest assured, we will discuss this in detail during your consultation, so you will have an understanding of everything that is involved in the process.
As part of the IVF treatment, you will receive one year of free storage for your eggs, sperm, or embryos. If you wish to store them for a longer period, there is an annual fee of £350.
In some situations, there are additional services that may be needed to help you on your fertility journey. Services including, extra scans, blood tests and pre-implantation genetic testing (PGT), which checks embryos for genetic abnormalities, are just some of the add-ons that may be recommended by our fertility experts.
It’s important to know that if any of these services are paid for and not used, you will receive a refund unless it is part of a bundle.
If you've been saving for IVF treatment, you can choose to self-fund your procedure without needing a referral from your doctor. However, if you're unable to finance the treatment on your own, we offer various funding options to assist you.
These options include NHS funding, Access Fertility, which provides a range of payment plans with 0% interest for up to 12 months, and support from Bupa. We have partnered with Bupa, allowing you to use your workplace assisted fertility benefits to cover the cost of your treatment.
You can find a detailed price list for all treatments and procedures on your chosen TFP Fertility clinic page.
