Where do I start?

Whether you have completed your family or are unable to pursue further treatment, letting go can be challenging. It's essential to gather all the information and explore every option before making a decision.

At TFP Fertility, no matter what you decide, we are here to provide the guidance and support you need every step of the way. We will ensure that you receive the assistance you need and provide counselling with various members of our team, including the doctor, embryologist and clinical counsellor.

Options

What are my options for my remaining embryos?

It can be challenging when weighing your options, but we’re here to guide you as you navigate this next step in your fertility journey. These include:

Save embryos for future use

If you are uncertain, you can place your embryos in storage. You will be charged an annual storage fee, and will need to renew your consent every 10 years, with a maximum storage period of 55 years. This will give you more time to make your decision, so you don’t feel pressured.

Donate to training

Training is crucial for embryologists to develop and refine their techniques, such as transferring embryos between dishes and performing biopsy procedures.

Donate to another family

Donating embryos can be a lifeline for couples experiencing fertility difficulties. If you choose to donate your embryos to a family, we will check our waiting list to find a suitable recipient. We will also discuss the process with you, including the eligibility criteria for donors.

Humane discarding

If you do not wish to keep the embryos and are unsure how to proceed, you can leave them in storage until they reach the end of their term. Alternatively, you may choose to humanely discard them, which involves removing the embryos from storage, bringing them to room temperature, and letting them perish naturally.

How can TFP Fertility help?

At TFP Fertility, we will stay in touch to check in and provide any necessary support. We will discuss your options and offer counselling with our team.

We will contact you before your consent expires to remind you of your options. It's important to note that if you do not resubmit your consent or pay for the yearly storage, the fertility clinic will need to decide what to do with your samples.
