What are my fertility treatment options?

Our wide range of treatments and additional services are designed to give you the very best chance of success on your journey to parenthood.

Following a fertility assessment, your consultant will guide you through the treatment options best suited to your individual circumstances, so that you can make informed decisions about your fertility journey.

Below, you'll find all of the treatments we offer at TFP Fertility and how they work. Get in touch if you have any questions or need advice about your next steps.

Our treatment options

Depending on your personal circumstances, we offer three main treatment options. This includes in vitro fertilisation (IVF), intrauterine insemination (IUI) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).

In vitro fertilisation (IVF)

In IVF, your eggs are mixed with the sperm of your partner, co-parent or donor in a lab and left to develop into mature embryos. Healthy embryos are then transferred to the birth mother during a stimulated cycle.

Intrauterine insemination (IUI)

IUI is a less invasive procedure than IVF which involves injecting healthy sperm directly into the uterus. This is usually recommended for same-sex female couples using a sperm donor.

Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)

ICSI is an additional step during the IVF process that is recommended for patients with male factor infertility. It involves injecting a single healthy sperm directly into the egg.

Natural and mild IVF

If you want to avoid high doses of fertility medications, natural or mild IVF may be right for you. We use no or fewer medications to stimulate egg growth, collecting the single egg your grow in a natural cycle.

IVF for over 40s

As you age, the quality of your eggs declines. However, this doesn't mean that you are not eligible for treatment once you reach the age of 40. IVF using donated eggs gives you a greater chance of success if you are over 45.

Solo parenthood

If you're pursuing treatment as a solo parent, you can build your family with the help of a sperm donor. Through our comprehensive donation programme, we can help match you to your ideal donor.

Donor conception

There are many reasons why you may consider using a donor in your treatment. Whatever your circumstances, we're here to support you every step of the way, matching you to your ideal donor.

Reciprocal IVF

If you're in a same-sex female, trans-man or non-binary partnership, reciprocal IVF allows both partners to be involved in creating and carrying a pregnancy.

Fertility assessments

If you've been trying to conceive for some time, or want to learn more about your options for trying for a family in the future, a fertility assessment can offer answers you need to make empowered choices.

Fertility tests for females

There are two main fertility tests we carry out for females: the AMH blood test to assess your ovarian reserve and an internal scan to check your reproductive organs.

Fertility tests for men

To assess a male's fertility health, we carry out a semen analysis. This allows us to check your sperm count, the size and shape of your sperm and how well they swim.

Fertility tests for couples

We offer comprehensive fertility assessment packages for both heterosexual and same-sex couples. This includes the necessary investigations and a follow-up consultation with a specialist.

Preserving your fertility

Though we cannot guarantee a successful future pregnancy, preserving your fertility provides the reassurance you need to try for a family at a time that works for you.

Egg freezing

To freeze your eggs, you'll need to undergo a partial IVF cycle. This includes a short course of hormone medication to stimulate egg growth followed by an egg collection procedure under mild sedation.

Sperm freezing

Sperm freezing is the most successful method for preserving a man's fertility. You'll need to provide a semen sample which is tested for infectious diseases before freezing.

Embryo freezing

Embryos withstand the freezing and thawing process better than eggs and sperm. If you're able to have embryos created - with a partner, co-parent or donor - then we recommend doing so.

Vitrification

To freeze eggs, sperm or embryos, we use a method called vitrification. This involves much more rapid cooling than other methods of freezing.

Preimplantation genetic testing (PGT)

Pre-implantation genetic testing (PGT) checks embryos for genetic or chromosomal abnormalities during IVF treatment. It aims to identify the best embryo to reduce the chances of miscarriage or having a child with an inherited genetic disease.

PGT-A

PGT-A tests for abnormal numbers of chromosomes (aneuploidy) in the embryo. Aneuploidy embryos have less chance of developing into a baby and are at higher risk of causing miscarriage or genetic conditions, such as Down's Syndrome.

PGT-M

PGT-M tests for specific genetic disorders caused by mutations in a single gene (monogenic disorders), such as cystic fibrosis or Huntington's disease. This is recommended if one or both parents are at risk of passing on a genetic condition to the baby.

PGT-SR

PGT-SR tests for structural changes in the chromosomes that might cause genetic problems or recurrent miscarriage.

Become a donor

Helping a couple or individual have a child is one of the most generous gifts you can give. Our comprehensive donor programme is designed to keep you and your recipients safe.

Become an egg donor

If you're aged between 21 - 35, you're eligible to become an egg donor. You'll have to undergo a partial IVF cycle to have your eggs collected.

Become a sperm donor

If you're aged between 18 - 45, you're eligible to become a sperm donor. You'll have to visit your TFP Fertility clinic up to 10 times to make your donations.

Additional services

Depending on your circumstances, we offer a wide range of additional services to help improve your chances of success. If they're suitable for you, they will be discussed with your during your consultation.

Fertility counselling

Going through fertility treatment is an emotional journey. We offer counselling sessions with specialised fertility counsellors to help you work through your feelings throughout your treatment.

Surgical sperm retrieval

Surgical sperm retrieval may be recommended when there is no sperm or very few sperm in the semen, or where there are complications with a natural semen delivery.

IMSI and PICSI

IMSI and PICSI are tools used in addition to ICSI which allows our embryologists to select the best quality sperm for improved chances of fertilisation and embryo development.

Menopause support

We offer menopause for women reaching menopausal age. We'll help you learn about perimenopause, early menopause and how to cope with menopausal symptoms.

Holistic therapies

Some of our clinics work with external support groups to provide access to additional services and holistic therapies, such as nutritional advice, acupuncture and reflexology. Ask your consultant about these therapies if you are interested.
