Education

After graduating in Medicine from the University of Glasgow in 1980 Dr Tay had his specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Glasgow and Edinburgh. He also has a Master in Medical Science from the University of Glasgow. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in London and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

WHO research fellowship

In 1988 Dr Tay was appointed to a World Health Organisation (WHO) Clinical Research Fellowship at the MRC Reproductive Biology Unit at the University of Edinburgh under the supervision of Professor Anna Glasier. He then completed his subspecialty training in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and University of Edinburgh with Professor David Baird. Dr Tay is dually accredited by the RCOG as a subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine and a specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Experience

Dr Tay was appointed Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and NHS Lothian in 1996. He has over 30 years experience caring for patients with complex fertility problems including IVF, fertility preservation, reproductive endocrinology and preimplantation genetic diagnosis. He has now retired from the NHS but continue to practise at TFP-GCRM.

Teaching experience and memberships

I used to be involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching at the University of Edinburgh/Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and was also an examiner of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in London. He is a member of the British Fertility Society and the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology.
