Dr Claire Banks is a Fertility Consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology at TFP GCRM Fertility. Education

Before studying medicine, Claire graduated from the University of Glasgow with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) with Honours in Medical Law and Ethics in 1996. She went on to complete her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) at the same university, graduating in 2002. During her subsequent obstetrics and gynaecology training in the West of Scotland, Claire developed a special interest in fertility and, as a consultant, specialised in subfertility gynaecological surgery, particularly in managing endometriosis and tubal disorders.

Teaching experience

Claire is passionate about teaching and mentoring. She served as RCOG College Tutor from 2018 and continues to be an examiner for the MRCOG Part 3 exams. She is deeply committed to inspiring and supporting trainees in expanding their fertility knowledge, ensuring excellence in the care of patients on their fertility journey.

Experience

In 2013, Claire joined TFP GCRM Fertility as a fertility consultant, before returning to the NHS in 2017 to work in the Assisted Conception Service at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. During her time there, she developed a particular focus on counselling patients with unsuccessful treatment cycles and recurrent miscarriage, as well as helping to manage the donor egg programme.
