TFP's Oxford Fertility Clinic is a selected NHS England IVF treatment provider for patients requiring pre-implantation genetic testing for genetic conditions or for rearrangements of the chromosomes (PGT-M and PGT-SR).
This involves testing embryos to see if they carry the genetic condition before deciding which embryos are best to replace back into the womb.
Some patients are found to carry variation in their genes and this can cause genetic conditions in them or their children. Pre-implantation genetic testing for monogenic disease (PGT-M) involves removing 5-10 cells out of an embryo to then test for the genetic condition. Mostly, patients are referred via their local fertility clinic or by the NHS genetic clinic for consideration for IVF treatment with PGT-M.
Other patients carry a rearrangement of their chromosomes (also known as a translocation). Pre-implantation genetic testing for structural rearrangements (PGT-SR) allows us to test to see if embryos carry an unbalanced rearrangement of chromosomes, which leads to miscarriage or unsuccessful IVF treatment.
Oxford has an excellent track record of providing PGT-M treatments for patients all around England together with our genetic testing partners – Cooper Genomics. We have satellite clinics where your treatment scans to monitor ovarian response close to your home and you may only need to come to Oxford two to three times during your PGT-M treatment.
Our short PGT waits, PGT coordinator and the excellent travel links into TFP Oxford clinic mean that many patients around England choose to have their PGT-M treatment with us.
