Heterosexual couples

For our Danish customers who have a referral from their own doctor for fertility treatment, the following applies:   

• NO waiting time for treatment   

• LIMITED co-payment for insemination   

• Self-payment for sperm - This applies in all private clinics, except in the public sector.  

• IVF co-payment - This applies in all private clinics, except in the public sector, where there is usually a long waiting time.   

The first consultation  

You can have the first consultation here at the clinic or virtually. This initial interview is non-binding, and you will be able to ask any questions you may have. At the same time, we will delve into your specific situation, previous fertility treatments and investigations.   

This is what you need to prepare for before the initial interview:    

The electronic medical record   

Please complete the electronic medical record. As you will both be registered, it is a good idea to fill it in together.   

Tests and investigations 

All couples who are going to start fertility treatment must, by law, have at least the following tests:   

• Hepatitis B – HbsAg, Anti-HBc  

• Hepatitis C – Anti HCV  

• HIV – Anti-HIV 1+2  

For women, we also want:  

• Blood tests for TSH and TPO, rubella, chlamydia and AMH  

• HSN (water scan): A water scan uses ultrasound to check whether the woman has a normal uterus and whether there is free passage through the fallopian tubes. We recommend HSN before insemination.   

For men, we also want: 

• Semen sample: We are interested in what the sperm look like, how they move, number, etc. If there is already a result from a previous sperm sample, please send a copy of this sample or bring it to the initial interview. If the semen analysis has not been done before, we can do it in a clinic by appointment.   

What to consider before fertility treatment  

Donor sperm   

In case you need donor sperm, we are ready to advise you. We have many years of experience in using donor sperm. In Denmark, fertility treatment is allowed with both open and anonymous donor sperm.
