Education

Jane began her nursing career in Hastings, where she gained valuable experience in gynaecology before qualifying as a Community Midwife in Cornwall in 2000. During her years in community midwifery, she developed specialist expertise in supporting home births and caring for women with teenage pregnancies, establishing a holistic and patient-centred approach that continues to underpin her practice today.

Experience

Jane's fertility career began in Scotland, where she worked in leading IVF services and developed extensive expertise in assisted conception. Throughout her career, she has worked across a number of respected IVF clinics, gaining comprehensive experience in fertility nursing, patient care and clinical leadership. In 2011, Jane played a key role in establishing a new fertility clinic, contributing to the development of clinical services, nursing protocols, patient pathways and operational processes. This experience strengthened her expertise in service development and provided her with a comprehensive understanding of both the clinical and operational aspects of delivering a successful fertility service.

What does a Nurse Manager do?

As Fertility Nurse Manager at TFP Wessex Fertility, Jane provides strategic and operational leadership for the nursing team, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, evidence-based care. She is passionate about clinical governance, service development and mentoring the next generation of fertility nurses while promoting excellence in patient experience. Jane has undertaken specialist training in fertility ultrasound scanning and early pregnancy assessment and has been performing embryo transfers since 2012. Her advanced clinical expertise enables her to support patients confidently through every stage of fertility treatment, combining technical skill with empathy and personalised care. Jane is recognised for her extensive clinical expertise and commitment to continuous improvement. She remains dedicated to delivering exceptional fertility care, developing innovative services and supporting both patients and colleagues through every stage of the fertility journey.

Publications

Committed to advancing the profession, Jane was a contributing author to the Royal College of Nursing publication Advanced Level Practice for Fertility Nursing (2024), helping to shape national standards for advanced fertility nursing practice across the UK. She is also an expert witness for a solicitors firm.
