Dr Antonios Vlismas

Education

Dr Vlismas completed his medical education at Sofia Medical University in 1998, followed by advanced training in obstetrics and gynaecology at the University of Athens. Here, he gained a wealth of experience through his work in the department of recurrent miscarriages and implantation failures at the University of Athens. He then went on to complete his PhD thesis on the aetiology of recurrent miscarriage and implantation failure. In 2007, Dr Vlismas began specialising in fertility and assisted conception, gaining valuable experience at the Centre for Reproductive Medicine at Bart's Hospital and later at Hammersmith Hospital and Boston Place Clinic.

Patient centred approach

Dr Vlismas has an extensive background in the management of complex fertility problems. He passionately believes that fertility treatment should be tailored to the individual needs of each patient and is highly experienced in dealing with difficult cases of egg collection and embryo transfer.

Membership and publications

Dr Vlismas is certified by the British Fertility Society in pelvic ultrasound, embryo transfers and assisted conception. He is a member of the British Fertility Society (BFS) and the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE). Dr Vlismas has also authored several publications in peer-reviewed medical journals and has numerous presentations in international congresses.

Experience

Before joining TFP Thames Valley Fertility, Dr Vlismas gained a broad range of experience in the field of reproductive medicine while studying and during his prior employment. Dr Vlismas focused his career on fertility and assisted conception since 2007. He worked at the Centre for Reproductive Medicine at Bart’s Hospital until 2012, subsequently joining IVF Hammersmith working at Hammersmith Hospital until 2016 and Boston Place until December 2020.
