Genetics

Sometimes the causes of infertility lie deep in the genes. Genetic tests are worth doing if you are a woman over 35, if you and your partner are preparing for in vitro fertilization, if you have already experienced recurrent miscarriages, or if you know of genetic abnormalities in your family.

Undergoing genetic testing can help identify some of the most common causes of infertility, which may be due to DNA mutations. Abnormal results of basic genetic testing, namely karyotype testing and high levels of sperm DNA fragmentation, are an indicator of increased risk of genetic defects in the fetus. In such situations, your TFP fertility specialist may recommend further in-depth diagnostics - so-called PGT testing of embryos resulting from IVF treatment.

How and when can you get genetic testing done with us?

The material for genetic testing is venous blood. Blood for karyotype testing is collected on:

  • Monday - Thursday from 8:00-18:00

  • Friday from 8:00-11:00

There is no need to fast; however, contraindication for genetic analysis is an active infection, taking antibiotics, or taking relanium and other psychotropic drugs. The waiting time for the result is 4-6 weeks. You can check the results conveniently through the Patient Portal.
