The DIAGEN Counselling Centre was established five years ago as a direct continuation of the field of activity of the Prenatal Counselling Centre at the Institute of Genetics of the PUM (Pomeranian Medical University) together with the entire medical and non-academic staff. The Counselling Centre employs a total of three specialists in the field of clinical genetics, including two with a professorial title, four specialists in obstetrics and gynaecology and three specialists in genetic laboratory diagnostics. The examinations are carried out in the area of two basic pillars: prenatal diagnostics and cytogenetic diagnostics.
Under the first pillar, the entire range of prenatal examinations, from screening in the first trimester to placenta puncture and amniocentesis, is carried out. The cytogenetic laboratory, on the other hand, offers comprehensive examinations in the field of classical and molecular cytogenetics for prenatal diagnostics as well as for children and adults. The counselling centre cooperates with several genetic institutions in Poland and abroad.
