General information – FAQ

Is there an age limit for fertility treatment?

Yes. According to the legislation, fertility treatment cannot be carried out if a woman is over 46 years old, i.e. we can treat up to the age of 45. There is no age limit for men.

What is the current waiting time?

We have no waiting time for insemination and IVF treatment. Once you have had your first consultation, we have received and approved all test results and the treatment plan is ready, we can get started on your treatment here at the clinic.

Can I go to work the same day I have been inseminated?

Yes, there is no problem going to work after you have been inseminated.

It does not reduce your chance of becoming pregnant.

Does the clinic have a BMI limit for offering treatment?

Yes, we have limits but we encourage everyone to submit their medical record and come in for an individual assessment.

  • Under 30 - BMI under 30

  • Under 35 years - BMI below 35

  • Over 35years - BMI below 38

Do I need hormone treatment if I want to donate my eggs?

Yes, if you would like to be an egg donor, you must have hormone stimulation. We will keep a good eye on you to ensure that you are on the dose that suits you.

Can I buy eggs from an egg bank and have them sent to the clinic?

No. Under current Danish law, we do not receive unfertilized or fertilized eggs from an egg bank.

Why do you take blood tests?

There are several blood tests we can take.

Viral tests are standard for all our patients and a legal requirement. We cannot treat people with HIV, for example.

There are several hormone tests that may be relevant to you before we can assess and determine the optimal treatment.

In addition, there are some quite extraordinary blood tests that we do if deemed necessary.

Are there others in the same room as me?

At TFP Stork Fertility and TFP Ciconia Fertility you will always have a single room. The rooms are warm and welcoming. All our rooms allow you to bring your own music (phone or iPod), which you can connect to a speaker.

At TFP Danfert Fertility you will share the waiting room with another person. But the room is divided so you get some privacy.

We will refund your parking ticket. If you come by car to TFP Stork Fertility in Copenhagen, just bring a copy of your parking fee, and we will refund your fee immediately. Parking at TFP Ciconia Fertility in Aarhus is free.

Will I get my own doctor who follows me throughout my treatment?

You will have a contact doctor who will follow you and your treatment. There may be days when we will not be able to accommodate you seeing your contact doctor. We are open every day of the year, which means that we cannot guarantee that your contact doctor will be on duty on the day you need to be treated.

What if I ovulate on a Friday night?

If your ovulation test is positive late in the evening, just call us the next morning, and we'll find you an appointment during the day. If you're coming from a long way away, you can prepare yourself in the evening to come to the clinic the next day. You can also call us in the evening and leave a message on our answering machine or inform us by email. Then we'll know you're on your way.
