General information – FAQ

Is there an age limit for fertility treatment?

Yes. According to the legislation, fertility treatment cannot be carried out if a woman is over 46 years old, i.e. we can treat up to the age of 45. There is no age limit for men.

What is the current waiting time?

We have no waiting time for insemination and IVF treatment. Once you have had your first consultation, we have received and approved all test results and the treatment plan is ready, we can get started on your treatment here at the clinic.

Can I go to work the same day I have been inseminated?

Yes, there is no problem going to work after you have been inseminated.

It does not reduce your chance of becoming pregnant.

Do I need hormone treatment if I want to donate my eggs?

Yes, if you would like to be an egg donor, you must have hormone stimulation. We will keep a good eye on you to ensure that you are on the dose that suits you.

Why do you take blood tests?

There are several blood tests we can take.

Viral tests are standard for all our patients and a legal requirement. We cannot treat people with HIV, for example.

There are several hormone tests that may be relevant to you before we can assess and determine the optimal treatment.

In addition, there are some quite extraordinary blood tests that we do if deemed necessary.

Are there others in the same room as me?

You will always have a single room. The rooms are warm and welcoming. All our rooms allow you to bring your own music (phone or iPod), which you can connect to a speaker.

Is it expensive to park near or at the clinic?

We will refund your parking ticket. If you come by car to TFP Stork Fertility in Copenhagen, just bring a copy of your parking fee, and we will refund your fee immediately. Parking at TFP Ciconia Fertility in Aarhus is free.

Will I get my own doctor who follows me throughout my treatment?

You will have a contact doctor who will follow you and your treatment. There may be days when we will not be able to accommodate you seeing your contact doctor. We are open every day of the year, which means that we cannot guarantee that your contact doctor will be on duty on the day you need to be treated.

What if I ovulate on a Friday night?

If your ovulation test is positive late in the evening, just call us the next morning, and we'll find you an appointment during the day. If you're coming from a long way away, you can prepare yourself in the evening to come to the clinic the next day. You can also call us in the evening and leave a message on our answering machine or inform us by email. Then we'll know you're on your way.

Contact us by telephone or email.

Can I call on the weekend?

Yes. You can reach us any day of the week, 365 days a year.

Are you closed during summer or Easter holidays?

No, we're not. We are open all year round, even during the summer holidays.

Can I buy sperm directly through you?

We work with the European Sperm Bank (ESB). If you wish to purchase sperm, we will arrange for you to contact ESB.

If I have bought a package and get pregnant on the first try, will I get the rest of my money back?

No, the package is used if you give birth to a child, if all attempts have been used or if two years have elapsed since signing the contract.

Can I change a package contract to a single treatment once I have started?

No, once you have chosen a package or a single treatment, it cannot be changed.

How do I get the medicines I need?

We will write you a prescription. If you live in Denmark, it will be available on the prescription server. Your medication will then be available through your health card at the pharmacy.

What donor wishes can you fulfil at the clinic?

With us, you can choose your height, hair colour and eye colour of the donor. If you have additional donor wishes, you can choose to purchase the sperm directly through a sperm bank and have it delivered to your clinic.

Why do I have to pay to set up a sperm depot?

The fee covers our costs for managing and maintaining the repository.

Do I have to pay for a sperm bank even if the sperm is only there for a few days?

Yes. You pay for the depot, even if it is only for a short time.
